SFO at Romerike International School

What is SFO?
SFO (Skolefritidsordning) is a before- and after-school program for students in Grades 1–4.

  • Focus: IB philosophy and play-based learning.

  • Activities: A mix of structured and free play.

  • Location: The Aula (first floor).


Opening Hours

  • Weekdays: 07:00 to 08:30 – 14:15 to 17:00.

  • Important:

    • No drop-off before 07:00 (even if the building is open).

    • No pick-up after 17:00.

    • Late pick-up fee: NOK 250.

SFO runs for 42 weeks per school year.

Fees

SFO fees are the same as in public schools in Nes Kommune. Food is not included.

  • Full-time (over 12 hrs/week): NOK 3,200

  • Part-time (under 12 hrs/week): NOK 2,200

  • Snack fee: NOK 250/month

💡 State Support:

  • Students in Grades 1–3 get 12 hours free each week.

  • Parents only pay for time beyond 12 hours.


Options

  • Full-time (100%): Child can attend all opening hours. Parents fill in a form to confirm mornings/afternoons.

  • Part-time (50%): Up to 12 hours/week.


Contracts

  • You may switch between full-time and part-time once per school year.

  • For part-time (50%), schedules can only change after winter break.

  • To terminate the contract, send a written notice 30 days in advance, before the 1st of the month following.


Daily Routines

Morning (07:00 – 08:20):

  • Breakfast in the Aula, games, and quiet time.

  • At 08:20, students line up with their classes to start school.

Afternoon:

  • Snack in the Staffroom (or outside on nice days/field trips).

  • Daily fruit + Friday warm food.

  • 30 minutes for eating and socializing, followed by activities.

  • Communication: via Spond app (weekly activities, sign-ups, messages).


SFO Afternoon Weekly Food Plan

  • We offer a varied and nutritious snack plan throughout the week, including during school breaks:

    • Monday & Wednesday: Brødskive med pålegg and fruit
    • Tuesday: Soup Day
    • Thursday: Warm Meal Day
    • Friday: Fresh Fruits

    We aim to make snack time both healthy and enjoyable for all children.


School Breaks: Opening Hours are from 08:00 to 14:00

SFO is open during:

  • Fall Break, week 40

  • Winter Break, week 8

  • Weeks 26 & 33 (OBS! The calendar might change), one week after school finishes, and one week before it starts.
