Job Description – Service Coordinator

Job Scope

The service coordinator is responsible for developing the schools Service as Action Programme for the Middle Years Programme at Romerike International School in line with the IBO requirements and the school’s vision.

The Service Coordinator

The Service Coordinator is a member of the professional staff, fully acquainted with Service as Action in the IB Middle Years Programme, and committed to the principles and practices of the IB MYP and the school’s philosophy.

The Service Coordinator:

• reports to the IB MYP Coordinator
• works closely with Heads of School and the MYP coordinator to coordinate the clubs and extracurricular activities at school

The MYP SA Coordinator oversees the Service as Action programme in the MYP, and is ultimately responsible for the programme administration, and for communicating about SA to the IBMYP Coordinator, MYP teachers, students, parents, school leadership and community partners.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop the Service as Action programme at Romerike International School.
  • Coordinate and support student-run clubs in the MYP.
  • Engaging students with service as a core element of the MYP and its requirements.
  • Developing new opportunities for Service with local partners and communicating these with students.
  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with community partners.
  • Working with subject teachers in integrating service opportunities in the MYP curriculum.
  • Ensuring opportunities are provided for students to identify connections between service and the curriculum.
  • Carrying out risk assessment regarding service experiences and addressing identified risks in an appropriate manner.
  • Organising and leading major service activities, such as the annual service days.
  • Celebrating and showcasing service through student assemblies and the MYP showcase.
  • Ensuring opportunities are provided for students to reflect on their service experiences.
