Middle Years Programme

At RIS, the Middle Years Programme welcomes students between 11 and 16 years.
The MYP, designed for learners between 11 and 16 years of age, offers a comprehensive and balanced curriculum that encourages students to make solid connections between their learning experiences and the real world. The purpose of the MYP is to develop students’ understanding of themselves as individuals at the same time as they define their role as responsible members of a global community.

The concept-driven curriculum in the MYP organizes learning in eight subject groups – Sciences, Arts, Maths, Language and Literature, Language Acquisition, Individuals and Societies, Design, and Physical and Health Education -, and it consistently seeks to develop students’ disciplinary and interdisciplinary understanding through inquiry into an ample array of global contexts.
The goal of such inquiry-based learning experience is to lead to student-initiated action, which may involve service within the community.
During the last year of the programme (Grade 10), all students complete the Personal Project, which provides them with an opportunity to undertake an independent, age-appropriate exploration into an area of personal interest. Through a process of inquiry, action and reflection the culminating experience of the Personal Project encourages students to demonstrate and strengthen their agency and capacity for lifelong learning, cultivated throughout the programme.
Romerike International School will open your eyes to a truly global world of opportunity.
