Job Description – Personal Project Coordinator

Job Scope

The Personal Project Coordinator will be responsible for supporting student completion of the culminating Personal Project of the Middle Years Programme at Romerike International School in Grade 10. This role will involve the development of systems of monitoring, training of students and supervisors, standardisation and exhibition.

The Personal Projects Coordinator

  • Plays a key role in the implementation and organisation of the MYP programme in close collaboration with the MYP coordinator.
  • Is responsible for the facilitation of Personal Projects in Grade 10.

The duties outlined in this job description are in addition to those covered as a Secondary Teacher. Adequate release time will be provided for the post-holder to attend to their coordinator responsibilities. The post holder should conduct himself/herself in an appropriate professional manner at all times to support and foster the aims and ethos of RIS.  

Main Duties and Responsibilities

This is not an exhaustive list of duties/responsibilities. The responsibilities outlined may be modified by the Head of Secondary, upon mutual agreement, to reflect or anticipate changes in the role:

  • Approves students’ selection of topics for projects with the MYP Coordinator.
  • Works closely with the MYP Coordinator to ensure students receive support sessions in academic integrity, research and organisational skills relevant to project completion.
  • Communicates project information and deadlines to students, parents, and supervisors in cooperation with the MYP leadership team.
  • Assists MYP Coordinator in assigning supervisors to students.
  • Assists MYP Coordinator in setting up processes, handbooks, and other documentation for the successful completion of projects.
  • Contributes to professional development and standardisation of assessment for projects.
  • Monitors students and supervisors during the process to ensure successful completion of projects.
  • Collates and records student achievement levels for submission to IB and in-school tracking of assessment data.
  • Collects the academic honesty forms from supervisors on project submissions.
  • Organises, with students, the exhibition of project work.
  • Ensures records are properly maintained (e.g. via Toddle).
