The school
Our mission is to empower caring, internationally-minded, and independent learners who act responsibly to improve the world around us.
Sustainability
RIS is delighted to be a United Nations school and will be working closely to put the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the very heart of everyday learning. The SDGs are a universal call to action to solve the world’s most pressing issues, presenting the perfect tool to reimagine and reshape the future.
A student-centred approach will aim to develop passionate and confident agents of change, ready to make a difference in the world now and in the future. Additionally, the staff that have been recruited all have this as a focus of their practice, making up a strong and united team in their mission to inspire a community of lifelong learners and agents of positive change.
Entrepreneurs
At Romerike International School we take this responsibility seriously, we endeavor to see each child as an individual with emerging personalities and vast potential. Our role is to encourage and teach these students so that they are best placed to uncover and release this potential.
Outdoor
Outdoor education supports emotional, behavioural and intellectual development. Studies show that students who learn outdoors develop: a sense of self, independence, confidence, creativity, decision-making and problem-solving skills, empathy towards others, motor skills, self-discipline, and initiative.
RIS is developing a programme across all grades to support this philosophy. It is our intention to have students of all grades partake in a residential trip during the course of the year.
Service
When schools proactively create a culture of service, they make education real, relevant, and rewarding. This also prepares students to become global citizens, and teach skills and knowledge they will need for the future. Romerike International School recognises that, as a community within a community, we have a role to play in making the world kinder, more considerate and engaging for us all.
The school will actively seek out service opportunities and encourage students, teachers and parents to participate.
Wellbeing
At Romerike International School we believe that everyone in our community has the right to a positive and safe environment. This is true for students, teachers, parents and anyone else connected to the school. Our aim is to nurture and nourish the 4 forms of wellbeing. There are 4 forms of wellbeing that we focus on at RIS are:
- Physical
- Emotional
- Social
- Digital
Our curriculum and approaches are designed to support these 4 facets of wellbeing.
